Abstract: This master-level seminar explores the art and science of designing immersive virtual environments, blending creative storytelling, technical innovation, and user-centric design principles. Students will delve into key concepts such as worldbuilding, spatial navigation, game mechanics, and avatar design to create engaging, interactive, and meaningful virtual worlds. The course emphasizes both practical techniques, such as 3D environment design and AI integration, and theoretical topics, including the psychology of immersion, ethical considerations, and social dynamics within virtual spaces. By examining current trends and emerging technologies like interactive simulation and VR, students will gain the skills to design future-forward virtual environments for gaming, social platforms, and other interactive experiences. Throughout the course, students will participate in hands-on projects and collaborative discussions, fostering a deep understanding of how virtual worlds are crafted to captivate, engage, and ethically interact with users.
